The number one problem I have is that the picture is clearly V-bar style -- i.e., the ice biters are welded on to the chain links -- but what I received was plain chain with no v-bar.
These made-in-China chains fit pretty well, but since they weren't as advertised, I couldn't try them out. (In order to do a return, the item has to be new.) From the looks of it, I'd recommend some sort of chain tensioner (for example, the rubber band type or bungee cord type) to help make sure they don't work themselves off during use.
I have a long driveway, about 1/4 mile total, and almost all of it is on a slope. Since it is also mostly unpaved graded dirt with some gravel base in spots, it tends to get covered with thick ice is several long runs. This makes the job call for v-bar ice biters.
We just got dumped on with another 4 - 6 inches of snow and more is on the way, so I'm pretty bummed that I now get to try out the Amazon returns policy. There is no phone number or email to actually be able to TALK to anyone at "Oregon", so I can't be sure if the picture is wrong or the item was misshipped. The bag the item came in was correctly labeled with the part number in the listing, so I suspect reordering this item would just get me another pair of the same chains.
Finally, the links happened to fit between the lug spacing on my tires such that the chains were not protruding very much beyond the lug depth...meaning there wouldn't be much bite. With the v-bars I probably would have been just fine. However, if you have deep, widely spaced lugs on your tires, you may have to look at a different style of chain altogether.
If you just want 2-link spaced plain chains, you can find them elsewhere for about $10 less.
